Abstract
Throughout its evolution, the ripensist quintet Bindea-Beke-Ciolac-Raffinsky-Dobay fully did its duty to the club and to the supporters.
Also, the establishment of the “Ripensia Guardˮ in the summer of 1934 meant establishing the Timişoara club on a social basis and strengthening the cohesion between players and supporters.
Winning the fourth and last Romanian championship title, in 1938, Ripensia parted ways with Cornel Lazăr, the executive president of the club, and began to “receive” his team, which was quite old, but still had quite a lot of potential, but different factors determined the entry of the professional team from Timişoara into a “cone of shadow”.
Of course, the interruption of domestic sports competitions during the years of the World War II, the “desertions” of some famous players fromt its ranks, as well as the pressures of the governing bodies of the fates of Romanian football brought great harm to Ripensia.
After the end of the second world conflagration, there was hope for a return of the “legendary” Ripi, but the O.S.P. intervened decisively, and the junior team of Ripensia, trained by several big names of the “senior team”, was not allowed to take over its “flame” and carry it on.
Also built on multi-ethnic, pluri-linguistic and multi-confessional bases, other teams that were active in interwar Timişoara (Chinezul, CFR, Politehnica, Banatul, R.G.M.T.) did not manage to equal Ripensia's fame until after its disappearance from the firmament of Timişoara, Banat, Romanian or European football (in the case of Poli), and in other situations they were only temporary opponents of it in various competitions.
In conclusion, in the two decades of its existence, Ripensia brought the town on the Bega back to the attention of the Romanian and foreign public, succeeding in fulfilling the purpose for which it was established.
