A quasi-rectangular brick, discovered at Berzovia, where legio IV Flavia Felix stood during Trajan’ reign, carries two lines of incised marks, ante cocturam in soft paste. It provides a new example of a writing exercise, with the repetition of two letters, some of them in a cursive script. Repetitive like the work of the soldiers in that military figlina, these marks also reflect the practice of writing on the various supports at hand.
