Abstract

This study tries to capture some realities of Banat in the first half of the sixteenth century through a hearing from 1539. The hearing was held at the request of King John Szapolyai, in the lawsuit between noble families Vayda and Fodor for the estates Domaşnea and Cornereva. Beyond the formal aspects involved in a lawsuit based on the oral testimony, recorded here in written form, document highlights property relations in the world of Banat’s nobility.
